About Us

Meet the Administration

  • Welcome, Wildcat Families!

As a double graduate of the University of Florida, with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education and Master’s in Education, I am proud to continue to serve the families of Sumter County School District since 2008. I have spent the last seventeen years in a variety of education settings, both elementary and secondary schools. I started my teaching career at Bushnell Elementary where I taught 4th and 5th grades until 2012. In 2012, I accepted a position at the district as a Teacher on Special Assignment for College Readiness. In this position, I worked with Sumter’s schools to build not only the Advanced Placement program, but also the AVID College Readiness System. In 2018 I transitioned to a district administrator, serving as a Secondary Specialist. My most recent work focused on refining the accelerated programs in Sumter such as: AVID K-12, EPIC Future Teaching Academy, Dual Enrollment with LSSC, and Advanced Placement at South Sumter High School. In addition, I coordinated and supported Wildwood Middle High School in beginning their new accelerated program the Cambridge AICE Academy. During the 2020 school year, I served as an Administrator on Special Assignment fulfilling the role of Assistant Principal at Webster Elementary. In 2021 I transitioned as principal of Wildwood Elementary School.

Instructional Leadership, with a focus on student engagement, is a personal passion of mine and I am afforded the opportunity to train educators all over the United States as an AVID National Staff Developer since 2016. Through my work with many schools across the nation and my extensive work in Sumter County,  I believe in the value of hard work and persistence.

As the first principal to open Wildwood Intermediate School in 2023, I am excited  to bring our staff, students, families and community together as ONE. As ONE we will work collaboratively for ONE purpose—Raise Up our Wildcats!!

  • We Are One…………Raise up the Wildcats!

Wildwood is growing, and I am excited and honored to be a part of that growth in the capacity as Assistant Principal at the new Wildwood Intermediate School. I have been an educator in Sumter County for the past twenty- two years. During that time, I have taught third through fifth grades and served in various leadership roles, including Literacy Coach, Assistant Principal Intern, and Assistant Principal. The 2012- 2013 school year led me to Wildwood Elementary School, and I have worked in the Wildwood community ever since. With a diverse range of experience, I have had the opportunity to impact students at every grade level (K-12). Nothing brings me more joy than empowering students and watching them reach their full potential.

I wholeheartedly believe that ALL students can learn, and they each deserve a high-quality education. I am committed to working with our students, families, staff, and community to ensure that every student has the necessary resources, opportunities, and support to achieve their personal best. I look forward to a great school year at Wildwood Intermediate School, where Success is the only option!

  • "Raise Up the Wildcats"

Hello Wildcats!  My name is Mr. Weems and I am new to Wildwood Intermediate School this year. I am so happy to join the leadership team at WIS and look forward to a fantastic school year.

I have been in education for 26 years.  I began my career in 1995 as a substitute teacher while I was attending the University of South Florida in Tampa.  I graduated with my degree in Specific Learning Disabilities in 1998 and immediately began my career in Wauchula, FL at Hardee Junior High School.  For the next two decades, I taught ESE math, science, social studies and writing.  I also taught photography, journalism, critical thinking along with creating the school yearbook and newspaper.  I also became certified in Elementary Education in 2016.

I graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL in 2014 with my degree in Educational Leadership and I began my administration career in DeSoto County in 2017 at DeSoto Middle School, first as an Administrative Dean of Students, then as an Assistant Principal.

I moved to Sumter county in 2022 and served first at Wildwood Middle High School as an Assistant Principal before getting the opportunity to come over to WIS.

I am excited about this upcoming school year and can't wait to see the accomplishments of our students.
